Energy and Culture at the Barents Sea Conference

The Barents Sea Conference and Hammerfest Energi AS are proud to announce the most extensive cultural programme ever presented in the history of the Barents Sea Conference. During April in Hammerfest you can enjoy performers ranging from star acts such as Jørn Hoel and Steinar Albrigtsen to local artists of all ages.

Raymond Robertsen of the Barents Sea Conference Foundation is convinced that our 2009 conference guests will leave with lifelong memories of their stay in Hammerfest. Together with Hammerfest Energi AS, we have focused on assembling a programme that will appeal to all tastes, and are very pleased to see the immense interest that this has already generated.

During these April days you can enjoy the following artists:

Marte Heggelund - coming home. Marte is from Hammerfest, and has just released her second CD. She sings her own songs inspired by performers such as Suzanne Vega and Lene Marlin. She will perform this concert with her four-man band, accompanied by a string ensemble.

Steinar Albrigtsen and Jørn Hoel are originally from Tromsø in Norway, and have been performing both together and as solo artists for almost 30 years. On this occasion they will play music from their latest CD, mixed in with some of their vintage hits that we all know and love. Hoel and Albrigtsen`s music is inspired by blues and rock, and their fantastic guitar skills provide many an unforgettable moment.

Duolva Duottar is a Sámi rap group made up of Ole Mahtte Gaup, Ivan André Skum, Anne Inger Marit Buljo from Masi, and Fred-René Øvergård Buljo. They became widely known in Norway in 2008 when they took part in a talent contest on Norwegian TV2.

Kristian Park is one of Norway's hidden treasures, and must not be missed. With his soft and tender voice he creates a magical atmosphere every night.After graduation top of his class from Sir Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, Kristian won the Songlink award for "best international song, musically and lyrically" for his song "Lovers & Haters", and later turned down an offer from the German Idol competition for the permission to use the song as the winner's single. The single is his debut and it is released on monday April 20th and will set the way forward for this up and coming artist.

“Lys I stolpan” (Streetlights) is a musical composed by Unit Five’s front man Tore Hansen. It was first staged in Hammerfest in November 2008, where its run drew full houses. Barents Sea Conference participants will get to see and hear excerpts from the musical during the event.

The Hammerfest School of Culture will perform on many stages during the Barents Sea Conference 2009. Children from all ages will display their talents, and we will also see an excerpt from the play “Peer Gynt” by Henrik Ibsen, which was staged in Hammerfest in January 2009.

“Blandakoret” is a choir made up of both male and female singers. They will perform pieces from their brand new Spring programme.  Stand by for a vivacious performance!

Stellaris DanceTheatre is a professional dance company based in Hammerfest. Stellaris DanceTheatre´s activity is today organized through different performances and projects. Stellaris DanceTheatre has international orientation through touring and network building, focusing especially on the Barents Region and the Cap of the North. 

Metaphysic is an upcoming band from Hammerfest, which plays energetic music. The band members are Dan-Jimi Trøite (Guitar/vocal) Christoffer Sjursen (Bas), Kristoffer Johnsen (Guitar), Simon Pedersen (Drums).
